Document Description
Element #1 of the project will reduce erosion of upper Gazos Creek Road and resultant sedimentation of Gazos Creek by implementing the Best Management Practices, including construction of rolling dips, out-sloping sections of road-side berms, replacing culverts on ephemeral streams, applying rock to the road surface, and use of erosioncontrol measures. Element #2 of the project will remove two living and two dead redwood trees from the right bank (looking downstream) of Gazos Creek, to un-weight a landslide adjacent to lower Gazos Creek Road, and reduce the risk of slope failure. These trees will be placed into Gazos Creek, where they will enhance instream habitat by scouring deep pools and otherwise provide cover for aquatic organisms. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2002-0815 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1601.
