Document Description
The applicant is proposing to excavate 3,400,000 cubic yards of sand and gravel over a four year period. There will not be a processing facility on the quarry site. All materials will be processed by an existing processing facility at an adjacent quarry site also operated by Granite Construction. The materials will be transported across the California Aqueduct on a conveyor belt. This is Granite Construction's third request to expand the original quarry to an adjacent parcel. In the past, materials have been processed at the original quarry site and upon approval of the most recent quarry permit; materials have been transported on a conveyor belt across the California Aqueduct. The project site is located on the northwest corner of Tracy Blvd. and Interstate 580. Tracy Blvd. ends at Interstate 580. The site is currently vacant and planted in grasses used for grazing.
