Document Description
The project applicant is proposing to install a new cell site base station at 27120 Palos Verdes Drive East in the City of Rolling Hills Estates. The cell site base station would be located within the public right-of-way. Base stations typically consist of two parts: the electronic transceivers (called radios or cabinets) that are connected to the traditional wired telephone lines, and the passive antennas that send the wireless signals created by the raidos out to be received by individual subscriber units. The cabinets are typically located at ground level and are connected to the antennas by coaxial cables about 1 inch thick. The proposed cell site includes three directional panel antennas (type=EMS1 RR6518-00DP) which would be mounted on the existing 45-foot utility pole at an effective height of 23 feet above ground. The maximum effective radiated power in any direction would be 430 watts.
