Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMSSDO-60087-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Carlsbad.
The Project is limited to the hand removal of vegetation within the northern half of the
channel between the upstream face of Jefferson Street Bridge, to the downstream face of South Vista Bridge. The 5.08-acre maintenance area currently supports 2.64 acres of freshwater marsh, 1.93 acres of southern willow scrub, 0.07 acre of mule fat scrub, and 0.44 acre of open water. Vegetation removal will be phased during a 10-year cycle so that vegetation in one-fifth of the northern half of the stream (two segments) will be maintained by hand every year. In addition to the 10-year cycle of vegetation removal, annual vegetation maintenance activities will occur near three storm drain outfall structures within the Project area. The Project also includes annual removal of human generated waste and non-native (exotic) vegetation within the 11.2-acre work area.
