                Document Description

The Lynwood Unified School District proposes to expand Agnes Elementary School by 2.17 acres while decreasing its enrollment from 766 to 720 students. No overall increase in District enrollment is projected as a result of the proposed project. To provide a site of sufficient size to accommodate school expansion, the District proposes to acquire 35 residential dwelling units that are located immediately north and west of the existing school site. The proposed project includes site expansion that would replace the 35 existing residential dwelling units with new classroom buildings, landscaped open space areas, a playing field, a kindergarten play yard, and hard court area. These new structures would be constructed along the eastern edge of the proposed project site, and would include a 2-story building with 16 classrooms, a kindergarten building, and a hard court. In addition to the proposed off-site improvements described above, the District also proposes on-site improvements to the Agnes Elementary School, including the replacement of existing temporary classrooms with a permanent classroom building and hard court play areas.
