                Document Description

This project will serve as a vehicle for implementing the Sacramento River Watershed Program (SRWP) Organophosphate Pesticide Focus Group (OPFG) Water Quality Management Strategy for Diazinon in the Sacramento and Feather Rivers (WQMS) which was developed to address water quality problems stemming from the use of diazinon as a dormant orchard spray. The strategy includes a full suite of practices organized into three categories: Pest Management Strategies, On-site Practices for Runoff Reduction and Application Methods. The project team will work with growers in the defined project area to establish demonstration sites in privately owned orchards. Various combinations of management practices from the three categories will be implemented in the demonstration orchards, and their effectiveness in pest management and/or reducing off-site movement of diazinon will be evaluated.
