Document Description
Emergency redirection of a portion of the San Diego River back into the main channel to prevent river waters from potentially impacting MH No. 74 of the East Mission Gorge Trunk Sewer pipeline. The San Diego River was diverted due to adjacent landslide from rock quarry. Approximately 20 cubic yards of on-site rock was placed around the manhole and across the secondary river channel. A temporary access route of approximately 0.5 mile was needed to access the work site.

Adjacent rock quarry blasting caused landslide into the narrow canyon further constricting river flow and redirecting flow into a secondary channel towards a manhole. In significant rain event this could have caused damage and a potential for a sewer spill. Emergency work was needed to redirect river into main channel and protect manhole.
