Document Description
The project involves the restoration of Old Mission Creek which traverses Bohnett Park. The restoration project includes the following components: weeding and landscaping; installation of two creek crossings, installation of bioswales, bank stabilization, installation of new stairs at the Victoria Street entrance, installation of landing overlooks, and access trails. The landscaping portion of the project will be comprised of removal of non-native plants and trees, and installation of native, riparian plant and tree species. The proposed creek crossings are located at existing impromptu crossings made by park users. On-site boulders will be placed at specific elevators in the creek bottom with 18-inch gaps to allow low flows to pass. The tops of the boulders will be cut to a flat surface and roughened with sizes ranging from 2x3 to 3x3. Sixty to 70 percent of the boulder would be buried. Bohnett Park is approximately 2.5 acres in size and the project area encompasses approximately 1.5 acres. The construction/installation process is anticipated to last approximately five months overall, including earthwork estimated at 550 cubic yards cut and 150 cubic yards fill over a one month period. Temporary creek diversions would be required during the construction process.
