Document Description
The North Orange Community College District is proposing to construct a new library and learning resource center within an area currently occupied by the student center (Building 800). The primary element of the proposed project includes the relocation of the existing operations with Building 800 to the newly remodeled Building 200. The remodeled Building 200 will accommodate the new student center and bookstore. The existing Building 800, consisting of 29,720 square feet, will then undergo demolition after the relocation of the existing uses is complete. Following the demolition of the existing Building 800, the site will undergo the necessary preparation for the new construction of the Library/LRC. Infrastructure connections will be installed during this development phase. The new two-level, 67,680 square foot structure will be constructed. The first floor of the library/LRC will consist of open areas and small rooms for student tutoring, labs for reading and testing, a computer lab, math tutoring area, the library's reference section, an area that will house the library's special collection, computer terminals, and various offices and storage areas. The second floor will be devoted to the main library collection. In addition, the second floor will contain group study rooms, a conference room, and a central open study area.
