Document Description
Western Mesquite Mines, Inc. proposes the Rainbow East Exploration Project on Bureau of Land Management-administered lands east of the Rainbow Pit area of the existing Mesquite Mine. The Project would construct up to 22 drill pads for drilling 23 exploration holes; each pad would include a lined drill sump to contain drilling fluids and cuttings. Other proposed features include five new short-term access roads totaling up to 4,500 linear feet and permanent widening of approximately 1,315 linear feet of existing BLM Route 949 by four feet. Approximately 91,000 pounds of material would be removed for testing. The Project would result in approximately 2.34 acres of surface disturbance and would occur intermittently over a period of up to 24 months. All short-term disturbances, including the drill pads and access roads, would be reclaimed following completion of exploration activities. No mineral production or permanent mining facilities are proposed. Imperial County will consider approval of Reclamation Plan No. 24-0001 pursuant to the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA).
