Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMSIMP-31209-R6, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to County of Imperial, Planning Commission. The Project is limited to impacts to streams associated with the construction of Leach Pad 8 on the remaining eastern area of Section 16 along the eastern side of Pad 6 of the existing Western Mesquite Mine. The area of Leach Pad 8 covers 87.28 acres. The Leach Pad 8 design will be tied into existing leach pad and processing infrastructure. Pad 8 will generally be constructed on at least 12 inches of low permeability or compacted native or imported soil and overlain with an 80-mil linear low-density polyethylene. A layer of crushed rock/gravel will be put on top of the liner to protect the liner and provide a drainage layer. A leak detection system will be included in the design and construction underneath the primary solutions collection pipes. All Project the activities will occur within an area inside an existing fence designed to exclude desert tortoise from the Mine site.
