Document Description
The proposed action consists of the issuance of a Solid Waste Facility Permit by the San Diego County Solid Waste Local Enforcement Agency to allow for the construction of a new 54,000 square foot Large Volume Transfer and Recycling Facility. The facility would process the following material types: construction and demolition materials, such as lumber, wood, and concrete; bulky items such as mattresses and carpets; ferrous materials; and recyclable commodities. The facility will share existing parking facilities and inbound truck scales with the adjacent Otay Landfill. Any non-recyclable residual material will be consolidated and transported to Otay Landfill for disposal. The facility would include stacked infeed hoppers, two trommel screens, and manual sorting lines. Manual floor sorting would also occur as material is tipped into the receiving area. After processing, materials such as cardboard, plastics, and certain metals would be sent to the indoor baler.
