Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has issued an ITP (No. 1927-ITP-2025-059-06), pursuant to Section 1927.3 of the Fish and Game Code to Specialty Minerals, Inc. The Project is comprised of expanding the 83.70-acre C-21 dump site utilized for waste rock stockpiling to a total of 101.36 acres, amounting to a total of 17.66 additional acres of undeveloped land being converted. Project Activities include excavation, grading, filling, and compaction of soil using earth moving equipment, use of water trucks for dust control, placing of staging areas, stockpiles, and spoils, grubbing and grading of the entire Project Site, trench digging, pile driving, and vegetation removal. The Project will result in incidental take of 492 western Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia), which are protected under the WJTCA and the California Endangered Species Act. The WJTCA ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of western Joshua tree that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
