Document Description
The East Fork Scott River Forest Health Implementation Project (Project) will implement up to 263 acres of vegetation treatments to improve and protect wildlife habitat, improve forest health, create climate resilience and reduce the risk of uncharacteristic large wildfires in the East Fork of the Scott River watershed. The Project will use a variety of treatment activities—non-commercial manual thinning, pruning, mastication and chipping, hand piling, and pile burning. This amendment adds 134 acres across two additional treatment units, both located south of Hayden Ridge bordering Klamath National Forest ownership, under the same landowner (The Wildlands Conservancy) as the original project area. The added acreage is similar forest vegetation type to the original project area, and will be treated using the same methods and the same Best Management Practices adopted in the original ND, unchanged-including the original watercourse buffer standard (BMP Hydro-2). The IS/ND concluded no impact or a less-than-significant impact across all Appendix G resource areas, and a Negative Declaration was adopted and reflects SVRCD Board approval of the project as amended.
